Sally de Courcy

Sally received her formal training at the UCA, where she obtained a fine art first-class honours degree, scholarship and master’s degree with distinction, graduating in 2016. Her artwork is composed of repeated objects cast in different mediums, including bronze. The hidden objects relate metaphorically and are re-assembled to reveal a narrative. Sally’s recent artwork explores humanitarian issues resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her work with refugees has been highly influential and has had a profound influence on her creative practice. Sally’s artwork is designed to reflect their experiences and to also advocate for people who suffer discrimination. The philosophical reasons for the repetition of violence through history explored by Butler and Zizek have influenced her, together with artists Doris Salcedo, Ai Weiwei and Mona Hatoum, who explore current global themes.

Sally has won awards and exhibited internationally, most recently in Boston and Venice. She lives in Woking, UK.
