Akemi Kodama
Akemi Kodama is an abstract artist who is inspired by the shapes and rhythms of nature. She studied oil painting at the Musashino Art University, where she encountered an abstract painting that brought her to the realisation that beautiful forms exist in familiar scenery.
“Inspired by what I’ve encountered in nature, I create abstract expressions with unique hand-made shapes and rhythms. I pursue the relationship between light and darkness and rhythm that can happen through fun and combinations of shapes created by hand.”
She is interested in the relationship between different types of media and creates her artwork using a combination of Adobe Photoshop and hand-made analogue techniques. In addition to her artistic career, Akemi is also a freelance graphic designer with over a decade of professional experience. Her work has been shown in public exhibitions at the National Art
Center (Tokyo) and was also selected for the 2017 Shunyo Exhibition. Akemi invites you to visit her website or Instagram account to stay updated with her latest works.
