Gemma Bertran
Gemma Bertran is a self-taught artist who produces her works from a small studio near the city of Barcelona. However, her roots lie in the inland of Catalonia. Her connection with nature, particularly to that of the Catalonian landscape of her childhood, is visible in every artwork she creates.
Exploration of the limits of colour, the harmony of abstract shapes and depth are the central axes of her work. Of her creative process, Gemma states, “Another essential foundation in the personality of my work is the process of creation itself, which is based on an understanding of how the various materials I use evolve and converge with each other. From pigments to concrete, acrylic or Chinese ink. The results are unique, and it is impossible to repeat paintings that transmit the idea of an abstract nature under the gaze of our contemporaneousness.”
