Dirk Max Schwaertzel
The universal omnipotence of the line is central to the work of Dirk Max Schwärtzel. The lines create surfaces and a sense of depth. The line classifies and separates structures with stark contrast in colour and texture. His work is epitomised by nature, its power and how humans influence it. The end result displays the way we perceive the world around us.
“I find inspiration rooted in Cubism and Futurism. My pieces combine the power and precision of the line with the ethereal playfulness and interpretability of impressionism. I call it ‘METRIC IMPRESSIONISM’.”
Dirk Max Schwärtzel’s preferred mediums are acrylic and oil paints. He holds a degree in industrial design from the University of Essen. The artist lives and works in Dortmund, Germany.
