Adéla Marie Jirku
Adéla was born in Czechoslovakia (known today as the Czech Republic) four years before the fall of the Iron Curtain. Her family comes from the poor mountainous region of Valašsko. The land, people, wildlife and history of this region mixed with bitter-sweet childhood memories still resonate strongly with her.
She has a well-rounded skill set and is accomplished in a diverse range of media, including traditional drawing techniques, digital painting and drawing, embroidering, painting, dry-point engraving, serigraphy, and linocut. Her experience allows Adéla the ability to work on commercial illustration as well as commissioned and personal fine art projects. She studied illustration at the Academy of ART, Architecture and Design in Prague, painting at ESADMM (Marseille) and is also a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
An active member of Prague’s art scene, Adéla has completed many solo showings and group exhibitions locally, including LUSTR, the Prague international festival of illustration. Her work has also been exhibited further afield in Kobe, Shanghai, Dresden, and Marseille. Adéla is currently available for commission upon request.
