Ayaka Nakamura
Ayaka Nakamura uses mostly hand-drawn images to create woodblocks, animation and painting. Her delicate yet strong visuals have earned her a substantial reputation both at home in Japan and internationally. She enjoys taking part in creative events and collaborating with publications. Her work as an animator and director is published in the book ‘JAPANESE MOTION GRAPHIC CREATORS 2015’, and in 2016 she hosted
a large scale live paint event at Roppongi Art Night to favourable reviews.
She is also highly regarded as a painter and has participated in exhibitions in Tokyo and abroad, including; ‘Gallery Enatsu’ (Tokyo), ‘Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre’ (Tokyo), ‘EPICENTRO ART’ (Berlin), ‘WhiteBox’ (NY), ‘The Auction Center Taipei’ (Taipei), and ‘The OLA Galleri & Ateljé’ (Lund).
Ayaka is a graduate of Musashino Art University, Tokyo, where she studied BA Fine Art, Printmaking (2009-2013). She is based in Tokyo but travels extensively as an artist in residence, taking her creative practice all over the world.
