Gracie Edwards

Gracie Edwards (b.1995) is an Australian visual artist based in Melbourne. Her creative practice stretches across painting and photography. Edwards graduated from RMIT University in 2017 with a Bachelors of Fine Art (with Distinction) and the following year went on to have her first solo exhibition. In 2017, Edwards interned at the Melbourne studio of Ian Strange, an Australian born New York-based multidisciplinary artist. She began volunteering at the Centre for Contemporary Photography in 2020. Inspired by the unconventional beauty of the banal, Edwards’ abstract painting practice investigates visual elements using bold expressionist colour and geometry as compositional strategies. Her photographic practice examines these same themes with an emphasis on the subtle and subdued urban street imagery.
