Abi Jameson
Abi Jameson is an award-winning contemporary artist living in France. She is currently represented by DAC concepts Art Gallery in Miami and Galerie Sonja Monti in Paris.
Her work, inspired by feminine beauty, inner strength, positivity and energy, has been published and exhibited throughout Europe and exhibited in Paris (2020) and Miami (2021).
After training at Theatre School in scenic painting and prop making, and a brief career in theatre and live events, Abi found her true calling as an artist when she fell in love and moved to France in 2002. Abi’s technique and style evolved during her years of study, attending art classes in all mediums, history of art lessons and art school in Bayonne. After working relentlessly for a decade, she found her artistic identity.
In 2013, everything changed. Abi lost sight in one eye and half the sight in the other. Upon reflection, she describes this as the moment she “lost her sight but gained her artistic passion.” Since then, the passion motivating her creations and informing her perspective on the world is evident. Colours are brighter, more determined, and messages are stronger. They are a small insight into her world of patterns, random marks, merging foregrounds and backgrounds and missing information shown through female portraits, dance and the female form.
“I constantly sketch, looking for that standout expression, a moment in time or composition that encapsulates peace, joy, beauty, positivity or inner strength. From absolute precision with my magnifying glass to random chaos, they pull me closer to the human condition. Being partially sighted, I cannot see people’s expressions or the beautiful lines of the female form unless I am very close. My art is how I make sense of the abstract world and the feelings within. Creation is a personal process that has saved me. When I lost my vision and most of my confidence, art offered a way to connect with my natural inner peace and happiness. My work is the harnessed result of these emotions and connections.”
