Astrid Reeves
Self-taught abstract artist, Astrid Reeves, paints at her studio located in Fairfax, VA, United States.
Although she took an interest in the arts at an early age, it wasn’t until a few years ago that Astrid decided to reignite her passion for art and pursue a full-time career as a painter.
Working with acrylic paint and occasionally watercolour, Astrid produces a dynamic body of work with an exquisite sense of fluidity and movement.
Colour and colour theory is a major theme and influence within her work. Astrid states, “I’ve studied a significant amount of colour theory because I’m inspired by colour. I like to know what makes colours pop, which colours are uplifting and which colours are calming. I am inspired by everything around me, the colours of an outfit someone is wearing, the colours in someone’s house or a sunset or landscape. Just about everything I see in the world around me translates into a painting.”
Astrid is an active member of her local creative community and has participated in the Luxembourg Art Prize (2019, 2020)
