Candace Stella
Candace Stella is an impressionist painter residing in Florida, United States. Every stroke of paint she makes is an expression of the hope and beauty that exists in the universe. Inspired by the scenes so often overlooked in our busy modern world, Candace’s paintings are studies in relaxation and serenity. A piece of art welcomed into the home can transform a room into a place of love, family and joy. To surround ourselves with things that inspire light and elegance; this is the ethereal purpose of art.
“My grandmother gave me a paint by number kit when I was visiting her at the age of ten. I instantly fell in love with the joy of pushing paint around. When my daughter started school, I went back to school too and part-time, earned a BFA from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA. My paintings have been shown in New England, New Mexico, Florida, Vancouver, and Greece.
Life threw me a curveball in the form of pancreatic cancer in 2006, and after I survived it, I decided to make my art a priority. I have come out on the other side with a deep appreciation of waking up every day and choosing to express gratitude. There is beauty and grace everywhere, even in the smallest things if we choose to see it. My book, ‘Ebb and Flow’, offers the chance to slow down and savour the beauty of the landscape around us.
Four years after my recovery, I was hit by a car at a crosswalk. Yes, I looked both ways! The elderly driver said she didn’t see me, and as a result, I was left with nerve damage in one hip and a limp. I’m relating this because everyone has had hardship at some point. For me, art takes me to a place of hope and light and faith that things will get better, and that is what I want to share. That is why I paint.”
