Andrea Gallotti
Andrea Gallotti is a mixed media artist who uses a combination of enamel paints, spray paints, oil pastels, graphite, plaster and chalks to produce his artwork. His creative approach is accessible and flexible, which he says is closely aligned with contemporary art and current issues. Dialogue with other artists is fundamental to his artistic development, and Andrea has travelled extensively, meeting artists in Italy and abroad to enrich his visual language and put theoretical concepts into practice.
The singularity of a gesture inspires Andrea, and his artwork investigates and celebrates the concepts of repetition and uniqueness. “Does the repetition of a gesture devalue its importance? This is one of the questions that moved me to create these works. The answer I found with my work is no. Every gesture, action, sign, and stroke is in search of a mere copy of the previous one—a simple gesture, which makes its simplicity an excellent example of how true this answer is. In repetition, there are always variables, predictable or not, which determine the final result of the gesture. Each gesture, which imitates the previous one, is a unique fact. In each work, the single repetitions collaborate to create light compositions where each track has its own space and dialogue with the others. Therefore, it is correct to give the right weight to each ‘repetitive’ action we perform in our daily life. Since each action is and remains unique, it must not be generalised and consequently diminished but rather appreciated for its uniqueness.”
Andrea resides in Italy, working between Milan and his studio in Burago di Molgora. He received his artistic training at a specialised high school and developed his technique at Brera Fine Art Academy, Milan. His work has featured in exhibitions and events throughout Italy, namely a solo exhibition in Città della Pieve, Umbria, the PAF (Photo Art Festival) in 2019 and 2020 in Monteleone d’Orvieto, Artmall 2019 and 2020 in Milan and Dustday collaboration with F.A.I. (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) in Finalborgo. 2021 events include the Genova Art Expo. He has collaborated with galleries in Italy and internationally such as Context Art Gallery, Artisy, Singulart and Plogix Gallery.
