Ivona Weber
Ivona Weber says her greatest desire is to “make my dreams come true and inspire the world around me with my paintings.”
Her painting process is complex and immersive, and her work allows Ivona an escape from reality and the chance to inhabit her dreams.
Working mindfully, she aims to depict what she feels at the time of painting. Her work is inspired by death and the desire to present an alternative perspective. She says, “I explain death positively, to describe it more precisely. It is my friend, always close, fair, loyal, peaceful, listens, it does not disappoint, and most of all is sure.”
She is a great admirer of nature, and Ivona is fascinated by the many types of beauty in the natural world. Her art diary is an archive of materials, symbols, quotes and moments of inspiration she encounters in daily life.
Ivona will adapt her painting technique depending on the characteristics of the subject. She enjoys experimenting with size, substrate and materials. Currently, she is using mixed techniques and collage, specifically acrylic, oil, pens, pastels, markers, mica pigment, flakes and glitter. Before starting work, Ivona carefully prepares her colour palette before letting her instincts guide her through the composition.
She relishes seeing an audience enjoy her paintings, and she aims to reflect their world, ideas and expressions. Her favourite comments are from people who spend time with the work, and Ivona loves hearing the exclamation, “there is always something new to discover in your pictures!”
She was born in the Czech Republic in 1982, and since 2007 she has lived in Switzerland.
