Adriana Puig Mate

Adriana Puig Mate paints to express the beauty of life. Her artistic practice is fuelled by the desire to spread life, happiness, peace and love through her artwork. Adriana’s paintings bring light and energy to the homes and spaces of her clients.

She was born in Barcelona and has lived in Madrid since childhood. Adriana is inspired by Spain’s natural beauty and the work of Joaquin Sorolla, Claude Monet, and Jackson Pollock. She says, “They are all different but unique artists. I admire their method of mixing and combining colours and how they create a more beautiful reality. I also get inspired by home decoration magazines and beautiful Spanish scenery, like beaches from Formentera and the mountains in Asturias. The colour mix is the aspect that interests me the most.”

Her career as an artist began with charcoal; she loved painting portraits of nudes and creating colourful animals before finally daring to paint abstracts. Adriana explains, “Acrylic is my favourite technique, although it’s difficult because it requires precision and planning. Acrylic is the technique that best lets me express myself and with which I flow the most. One of my most important lessons was how to let go of the fear of a blank canvas.”

Adriana is a popular commission artist who has built a community of regular collectors by working closely with her clients. She creates a collection, such as her piece, ‘Colour Studies’. A client who likes the technique and style will order a subsequent painting, and Adriana produces it using custom specifications, including size and colour palette. She says, “I create the painting by their side, showing them every step, so they feel part of the process.”
