Pablo Acuña Ramírez
Pablo (b. 1988) is a social entrepreneur, public innovator and plastic artist based in Costa Rica. He mixes innovation, sustainability, well-being, science and art to promote abstract, creative, and innovative thinking through his paintings. Pablo has multifaceted interests and studied administration, specialising in sustainability, social entrepreneurship and innovation in countries including Sweden, USA, Israel and Costa Rica. His PhD research focuses on social innovation and public innovation labs.
He obtained several recognitions as a social entrepreneur and has started to promote innovation in the public sector of Costa Rica. Pablo began painting in 2015, learning on his own through a process of experimentation. His purpose in life is to promote a culture of innovation. From each painting he sells, he donates a percentage of profits to promote workshops on abstract, creative and innovative thinking with young people. He describes this as ‘’art with purpose’’ social entrepreneurship.
His work is based on giving colour to squares. Even the most square shape (a square in itself) can be creative, dynamic and innovative. The squares in his paintings are a symbol against conventional structures and paradigms and a means to express that everyone can be a creative and innovative person. Pablo is also a TEDx speaker and was selected to appear in the 18th edition of the Flamantes Young Artist Book (2020).
