Freelance illustrator Kathrin Frank resides with her husband and two children in Regensburg, Germany. Her illustrations are a mixture of drawing, ink and different textures. Her professional background features studies in communication design in Nuremberg with focus on illustration and also vocational practice in Mexico and Spain. Who are you and what do you do? 

Kathrin Frank, illustrator.

How would you describe your work? 

Colorful and full of things to discover.

How do you go about creating your artwork? Do you prefer to work digitally or with traditional media? 

I love and work with both medias. The basis for my illustrations are drawings.

What are you working on at the moment? 

I am working on a wall illustration for a hotel.

Who or what are the top five inspirations for your work? 

Gallery and museum visits, literature, nature, travelling.

What's one resource every artist, illustrator or designer should know about? 

You should know about your own skills and go your own way in creating pictures.

What is the most valuable lesson you've learned during your time working in the creative industries? 

Work hard and never give up.

What is the hardest challenge you have faced in your career, and how did you overcome it? 

To be illustrator and mother at the same time. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband and family who supports me.

What are your professional goals for the next year? 

I hope to be able to work on my own projects.
