Weirdink

 
 

Weirdink (Georgios Xanthos) is a freelance character designer, art director and illustrator who specialises in character design, illustration and story development. His diverse background includes projects in advertising, motion design, animation and mobile design. He has worked with an impressive roster of clients including, Google, Android, E4, Passion Pictures, Nissan, Fanta, Coca Cola and HSBC. Originally from Greece, he currently resides in London, where he has lived and worked since 2012. 


He is inspired by the work of mid-century artists and designers like Jim Flora, Mary Blair, Eyvind Earl, M. Sasek. Contemporary influences include Hayao Miyazaki, Tim Biskup, Aaron Draplin and many more. 

He studied Graphic Design at Nottingham Trent University, where he won his first award in a national student competition sponsored by River Island. Before founding his freelance practice, Weirdink was an early member of notable motion design agency Nomint. His work with the studio earned him several industry accolades including, two Gold European Design Awards, HAFF Best Leader Award, iF Design Communication Award, 1st Prize at the Vimeo Community Awards and two Gold iF Awards. 

Weirdink is a long-time Pictoplasma contributor, and his characters are featured in various Pictoplasma Publications, Digital Projects and Pictoplasma Exhibitions. He contributed to the Rotovision Digital Brushes Sourcebook (2010). His work has been included in several UK creative publications including Computer Arts Projects Magazine (cover artist), Digital Artist Magazine, Computer Arts Projects Magazine, (Student Showcase and β€˜Creative Inspirations.’)
