Devontae Driver
Devontae Driver is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer who resides in Benton Harbor, MI, United States. Before founding his design studio, Devontae studied graphic design technology at Southwestern Michigan College.
“I’ve worked with many locals and out of towners, but what gave my work the buzz it needed as a freelancer was designing for Braja Apparel, a clothing brand and local musicians/producers including Mayback Da’Don, Extendo Ty, swvRAY, UFO Musik and WillDrip.
My inspirations include artists like Doodlejor, Mcflyy, Remain3k, Ozzyozdavyrus, and many more. I am also influenced by details in real-life situations and what I see in clouds, (which I reference in my logo). My personal experiences are a source of inspiration as well. I aim to stylize some aspects of my work (colour, certain details, and line work) from old and new anime shows. My work can be very complex due to the way I stylize my design. I can work in many visual styles, but the styles I truly take pride in are explicit, rugged and story-telling.”
Devontae uses digital techniques to produce his artwork and works mainly in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. He engages Facebook and Instagram as his primary media outlets.
“Every day I teach myself different ways to get better with my colouring, line work, and being consistent. I also have the ambition to be self-taught with things that are outside of my comfort zone.”
