Asahi Hu
Illustrator Asahi Hu hails from Chengdu, China. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in art and design from the city’s College of Chinese-ASEAN Arts. He began painting from an early age, following an interest in film and television animation. Asahi is primarily inspired by the work of Hayao Miyazaki, co-founder of Studio Ghibli.
His goal is to convey authenticity and vitality through his artwork, so he pays particular attention to narrative imagery and detailing the features of his characters.
He is continuously developing his skills and furthering his skillset, but also receives significant encouragement and recognition from his community. Describing the course of his artistic journey, he says, “Even when compared with magnificent applause, the most valuable part of any good artwork is often the moment that touches the heart.”
His work has been awarded the 3rd prize in the 2018 Hearthstone-Witchwood (Blizzard Entertainment) fan painting contest, and he was also placed in the Global TOP50 in the 2018 Archasm Tokyo (anti-library) design competition.
