Aoi Hasebe
Aoi Hasebe was born and raised in a small town in Japan before her ambitions motivated her to move to Gifu. Her hunt for inspiration and the diversity of beauty subsequently took her to New Zealand, where she is currently pursuing her passion. Since nature has a significant influence on her work, this is the perfect environment for her.
She is best described as a freelance illustrator who enjoys the independence of creating work through her passions and inspirations. Her clients include Japanese gaming companies and agencies. She uses Adobe and Clip Studio Paint to produce her work.
“I have loved art and followed illustrators for as long as I can remember, but I have always found joy in the search for my own inspiration. I am driven and inspired by my passion for people and nature and the beauty that lies behind them.
I am often asked how I would describe my work. I tend to refrain from answering this because I want my work to describe itself. I want to convey emotions and create questions. I try to make all my pieces more than just the art seen by the eye; there is always a story or an idea behind the colours and motifs.
My work is made to be a snippet of a bigger picture, a bigger story. I want to use my work for concept art. Whether it be in the gaming industry, the movie industry or for books, I believe my work needs and always has a story behind it.”
