A native New Yorker, Linda Fennimore is a graduate of the Julliard School of Music, who turned from music to art when she discovered the limited employment opportunities available to concert pianists. After briefly studying at the Art Students League, she began earning a living as a textile designer, while putting together an illustration portfolio.
Her portraits and other illustrations began appearing in 1975, on book and record jackets and the cover of Time. Although much of her work is now seen in advertisements and promotional materials, she has produced cover illustrations for the books of Stephen King, William F. Buckley, Jr., Peter Benchley, and Victoria Holt. Her CD and record jackets adorn the discs of Barry Manilow, Air Supply, and Billy Ocean. For Broadway, she has created posters for such shows as The Dresser, ‘Night Mother, Tru, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Thurgood, and recent revivals of My Fair Lady, and The Sound of Music.
One of the few American illustrators to work primarily in colored pencil, Ms.Fennimore has had a one-woman show of her work at the Society of Illustrators. She lives with her husband at their homes in Manhattan and Orient Point, NY.
