Asuka is a Japanese contemporary artist, designer and illustrator currently residing in the city of Kyoto, Japan.
“One of the primary themes of my work focuses on relationships, particularly that of strangers. My works explores how a stranger reflects and interprets an artists work to build their own interpretations and narratives of the art, and also the character of the artist themselves.”
Asuka is highly experimental with the mediums she works with, conducting daily experiments with numerous materials to create new techniques for image making with striking results.
She has acquired a B.D. in Material Art and Design from OCAD University, Canada. Asuka has also received a M.F.A. in Dyeing and Weaving from the Department of Crafts from Kyoto City University of Art, Japan.
