Afonso Arraiano

Born in 1990, Afonso currently works as a freelance graphic designer, while collaborating also as senior graphic designer in A Equipa, a creative studio based in Lisbon.

While spending three years in the city of Caldas da Rainha, to finish his studies of graphic design at Art and Design school (ESAD.CR), Afonso got the chance to start experimenting and discover creative techniques from digital tools that soon lead him to refine his special fascination for particular graphic elements, followed by geometry-based patterns and other visual symbols.

At 21 began his professional career at Brandia Central communication and advertisement agency, where started to gain knowledge and work experience in different fields that intersect with graphic design such as editorial, packaging, UX design, typography, icon design and branding.

Since then, has been working or collaborating with design studios, while on his free time tries to keep a balance between various freelance projects and taking on some free experimental work focused on new ways to creategraphics of different sorts. When doing none of these, he takes his photographic camera with him and go visit new places to get inspired from.

Some of his work can be seen in featured design books like Selected B, Index Book; Modern Patterns, Sendpoints and Choi’s Package, Choi’s Gallery, as also in some skateboard decks from Original Skateboards brand.
